In a tragic incident on Tuesday, a mass shooting at a high school in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, resulted in the deaths of ten individuals, including the shooter. The event has left the small Canadian community in shock and mourning.

Inside the school, six individuals lost their lives, according to reports from Reuters. In a related development, two more people were found deceased at a nearby residence linked to the shooting. Tragically, another victim succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Alongside the casualties, two people were hospitalized with severe injuries, while approximately two dozen others received medical attention for less serious wounds. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have yet to disclose whether the victims were students, staff, or faculty members.

The shooter, identified as a female, was discovered dead at the scene, having apparently taken her own life. This somber episode has raised numerous questions and concerns among the community and beyond.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police did not say if the victims were teachers, staff, or students.

The shooter, described as female, was found dead with a self-inflicted injury.

An active shooter alert described the suspect “as female in a dress with brown hair,” and Police Superintendent Ken Floyd said that was the person found dead in the school.

Tumbler Ridge is a remote town in the Rocky Mountain foothills with a population of about 2,400. The Tumbler Ridge Secondary School has about 160 students in grades 7 through 12, its website says.

The school has been closed for the rest of the week.

No further information was released for the time being.
