Outside the home of Nancy Guthrie, a white forensic tent has been set up, marking the spot where a mysterious figure in a ski mask and thick gloves was seen approaching her residence just over a week ago.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was taken from her $1 million home in Tucson, Arizona, in the early morning hours of February 1. The entrance to her house is now obscured by the tent, which stands over the front porch where detectives discovered blood matching her DNA.

Though the exact reason for the tent’s presence remains undisclosed, such structures are often used by investigators to shield significant evidence, such as a body or a weapon, from public view.

In response to the unfolding situation, Savannah Guthrie, host of the Today Show, shared a poignant video tribute to her mother shortly after the news of the tent’s appearance became public. “Our lovely mom,” she expressed, adding, “We will never give up on her. Thank you for your prayers and hope.”

Today Show host Savannah Guthrie posted a heartbreaking video tribute to her mother just minutes after news about the tent broke.

‘Our lovely mom,’ Savannah wrote. ‘We will never give up on her. Thank you for your prayers and hope.’

It comes after FBI agents carried out a minute inch-by-inch search of the rugged scrubland around the home Wednesday.

Investigators have been inundated with thousands of tips after publishing doorbell camera footage showing the suspect approaching Guthrie’s residence, then realizing the camera was recording him and tearing it off.

Several hundred detectives and agents have been assigned to the investigation to find Guthrie.

Until Tuesday, it seemed authorities were making little headway in determining what happened to Nancy Guthrie or finding who was responsible.

The surveillance photos showing a masked person trying to cover a doorbell camera on Guthrie’s porch marked the first significant break in the case.

But the images did not show what happened to her or help determine whether she is still alive.

FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators spent days trying to find lost, corrupted or inaccessible images.

Two investigators emerged from her daughter Annie Guthrie’s home Wednesday with a paper grocery sack and a white trash bag.

One, still wearing blue protective gloves, also took a stack of mail from the roadside mailbox. They drove away without speaking to reporters.

Annie and her husband Tommaso Cioni, who live several miles away from Guthrie, were among the last people to see the 84-year-old before she was abducted.

A large tent is now blocking the entrance to Guthrie's home and her front porch, where investigators found blood that matched her DNA. It is unclear why the tent has been erected or what evidence might have been spotted

Savannah and her siblings, Camron and Annie, in a video they shared online asking for help

Savannah, Annie and their brother Camron have indicated a willingness to pay a ransom.

It is not known whether ransom notes demanding money with deadlines that have already passed were authentic, and whether the family has had any contact with whoever took Guthrie.

Sheriff Chris Nanos has described Nancy Guthrie as mentally sound but with limited mobility. She takes several medications, raising urgent concerns about her well-being without them.
