In a development that has left authorities working around the clock, investigators have discovered a crucial piece of evidence in the mysterious disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie. A glove, containing DNA evidence, was discovered approximately two miles from Nancy’s Tucson home, a location that now holds significant interest for the FBI.

The glove was retrieved from a roadside field, and subsequent DNA testing has pointed towards a match with the gloves worn by a masked individual seen outside Nancy’s residence on the night she went missing. The FBI, maintaining a cautious approach, announced on Sunday that they have received preliminary results but are still awaiting formal confirmation.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, was last observed at her Arizona home on January 31, with her absence reported the following day. The unsettling discovery of her blood on the front porch, coupled with ransom notes sent to media outlets, has intensified the urgency of the investigation, especially as deadlines for ransom payments have come and gone without resolution.

In a broader sweep of the area, investigators stumbled upon around 16 gloves scattered near the residence. However, most of these were identified as belonging to searchers, leaving the glove found in the field as a potentially pivotal piece of evidence.

This revelation follows the release of surveillance footage depicting a masked figure outside the Guthrie home. Captured by a porch camera, the individual was clad in a ski mask, long pants, a jacket, and gloves, all while carrying a backpack. This person, now a suspect, has been described by the FBI as a man standing about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build, seen carrying a 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack.

On Thursday, the FBI called the person a suspect. It described him as a man about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build. The agency said he was carrying a 25-liter “Ozark Trail Hiker Pack” backpack.

Authorities have expressed concern about Nancy Guthrie’s health because she needs vital daily medicine. She is said to have a pacemaker and have dealt with high blood pressure and heart issues, according to sheriff’s dispatcher audio on broadcastify.com.
