A young man from New York faces attempted murder charges after allegedly attempting to kill his sister with a crossbow.

Samy Sedhom, aged 21, was taken into custody on Sunday following accusations that he shot a crossbow at his 28-year-old sister. She was reportedly exiting her car upon returning from the gym when the incident occurred. According to information from the Nassau County Police Department, officers were dispatched in response to a Saturday call reporting that the woman was bleeding from facial injuries. The arrow had “grazed” the right side of her face, and she was subsequently hospitalized in stable condition.

Local ABC affiliate WABC obtained court documents revealing that Sedhom had allegedly been plotting his sister’s murder for several months.

The sister recounted to police that she was returning home from her gym session on Saturday night. While entering a code to close the garage, she experienced a sharp pain on the right side of her face. Realizing she was bleeding, she promptly contacted the authorities. She also reported witnessing Sedhom sitting in a parked car across the street from their house.

During their investigation, officers discovered a hunting arrow lodged in the garage wall. Inside the residence, they found a box in Sedhom’s bedroom that had contained the crossbow allegedly used in the attack. Additionally, police seized a Katana samurai sword and a laptop. Sedhom was arrested without resistance on Sunday.

Court documents indicate that Sedhom confessed to shooting his sister with the crossbow and had been contemplating her murder since Christmas. The motive behind his actions remains unspecified.

Sedhom was arraigned in Nassau District Court in Mineola, New York, on Sunday and pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and stalking. He was ordered to be held at the Nassau County Jail without bail and to stay away from his sister. His next court appearance was scheduled for Feb. 18.
