Pixel 9 phone users, much like those with Pixel 10 devices, will soon find it easier to share files with Apple products. When a file is sent from a Pixel to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, it will appear as an AirDrop transfer. On the Android side, this process is managed by Quick Share. For this to work, the receiving Apple device must be set to be discoverable by anyone—an option that can be limited to ten minutes—and the Pixel must also be visible to all or set to receive mode. Once these settings are configured, simply tap to accept the transfer, and enjoy seamless cross-platform sharing.
However, if you own a Pixel 9A, you’ll have to rely on traditional methods like Bluetooth for file transfers. When questioned about the exclusion of the 9A from this feature, Google’s communications manager, Alex Moriconi, mentioned that they are “looking forward to improving the experience and expanding it to more Android devices over time.” This suggests the possibility that the 9A might be included in future updates. Meanwhile, the prospect of lasting AirDrop compatibility for other Pixel models appears quite promising.
