During Friday’s episode of “Crime Stories,” Nancy Grace discussed a theory suggesting the potential involvement of an “accomplice” in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. This theory is currently being explored by investigators.

Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, vanished on January 31 after returning to her home in the Catalina Foothills of Arizona following an evening out. Her family reported her missing the following day, on February 1.

Initially, attention was directed towards a lone masked individual, but a spokesperson from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department revealed to FOX News on Friday that investigators are considering all potential leads.

“The sheriff has consistently emphasized that while efforts are underway to identify the individual captured on the doorbell camera, the possibility of additional individuals being involved has not been dismissed,” the spokesperson explained.

The investigation has centered on a Nest doorbell camera at Nancy Guthrie’s residence, which recorded a masked man tampering with the device shortly before she vanished.

However, a separate still image released by the FBI—taken by the same camera—has raised questions among investigators and forensic analysts about an accomplice.

While the man in the still image wore clothing similar to the individual in the video, he is not seen carrying the backpack or holster visible in the primary footage. This discrepancy has fueled speculation that the images may depict two different suspects.

Randy Sutton, a retired Las Vegas police lieutenant and founder of The Wounded Blue, addressed the inconsistency, as FOX News reported.

“I’ve been wondering about this still picture,” Sutton remarked, noting that the logistical challenges of a kidnapping often require more than one perpetrator.

New physical evidence has also emerged via the FOX Flight Team; a drone video uncovered a pair of smashed floodlights at the rear of the Guthrie property. Although it remains unclear exactly when the lights were destroyed, Sutton suggested the move is a tactical indicator of a multi-person operation.

“You would break those floodlights so as not to be silhouetted,” Sutton said. “It’s a common thing.”

He further elaborated that the mechanics of forcing an 84-year-old woman from her home would be “unwieldy” for a lone intruder.

Sutton’s theory suggested one individual may have approached from the front while another gained entry through the rear, likely supported by a getaway driver stationed nearby.

Saturday marks day 21 of the search for Nancy Guthrie.
