Samsung is adding Perplexity to Galaxy AI

Galaxy S26 users will soon have a new digital assistant option with the addition of “Perplexity” to their devices. By simply saying “Hey, Plex,” users can access this AI feature, which is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to create a “multi-agent ecosystem.”

This strategic move acknowledges that different AI tools excel in varying areas, and users often prefer using specific assistants for specific tasks. Samsung’s operating system will now support the integration of multiple AI agents. Unlike a simple version of an app, Perplexity on Galaxy phones will have enhanced functionality, including access to Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar, as well as certain third-party apps, though the specific ones have not been disclosed by Samsung.

Samsung anticipates that users will increasingly interact with AI on their phones and recognizes that people often form strong preferences for certain digital assistants. By allowing users to choose their preferred AI to manage their device interactions, Samsung aims to set itself apart from competitors such as Apple and Google.

As Samsung’s next Unpacked event approaches, more details are expected to be revealed about Galaxy AI and the company’s vision for a future driven by multiple AI agents. The event is set for the 25th, where further insights into this innovative approach will likely be shared.
