In Georgia, a police dog played a crucial role in capturing a burglary suspect concealed within an air vent at a business in DeKalb County, as reported by local authorities.
The incident unfolded when officers from the DeKalb County Police Department’s North Central Morning Watch were dispatched to Atlanta Fixtures and Sales. The business owner had detected a suspicious figure on the rooftop using live video surveillance.
Upon arrival, the officers established a secure perimeter and summoned additional support, including the department’s K-9 Unit, the Strategic Tactical and Response team, and fire department personnel.

As they searched the premises, the police discovered evidence of forced entry and interference with the building’s HVAC system.
Thanks to the efforts of K-9 “Alex” and the use of specialized tools, officers were able to pinpoint the suspect’s location, leading to a smooth arrest without any complications.

The department said officers also recovered burglary tools and a firearm at the scene.

The suspect was charged with burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and was also found to have outstanding warrants in DeKalb County.
“This arrest highlights the professionalism, coordination, and resourcefulness demonstrated daily by the men and women of the DeKalb County Police Department. Great work by all units involved in bringing this incident to a safe resolution,” the agency wrote on Facebook.
