Two men, aged 29 and 24, have been apprehended by NSW Police in connection with the suspected abduction and killing of 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian.

Authorities suspect that Baghsarian was taken from his residence nearly a fortnight ago, potentially due to a case of mistaken identity.

On Tuesday morning around 8 a.m., human remains were discovered in the vicinity of a golf club in Pitt Town, located in Sydney’s northwest, as reported by state officials.

Subsequently, police have confirmed the detention of two individuals.

“Following thorough investigations, strike force detectives, aided by the Raptor Squad, executed search warrants at premises in Kenthurst and Castle Hill around 6:30 a.m. today,” NSW Police announced in a statement.

“The men have been transported to Riverstone Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.”

The arrests come about 11 days after three men stormed Baghsarian’s north-western Sydney home and bundled him into a car in the middle of the night.

Police believe the intended target for the abduction was a relative of an underworld-linked Sydney businessman who lived on the same street as Baghsarian.

They repeatedly told the kidnappers they had the wrong person and publicly urged them to release the elderly man, who relied on daily medication.

“Our family is living through a nightmare we never thought possible.”
