Former Clinton, Obama official to resign from Harvard over Epstein ties

In a significant development, former Harvard University President Larry Summers has announced his resignation from all academic and faculty roles at the prestigious institution. This decision comes amid scrutiny over his connections with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. Summers will step down at the conclusion of the current academic year, according to a statement from a Harvard spokesperson.

The announcement follows an ongoing review by Harvard of recently disclosed documents related to Epstein, as released by the government. Harvard Kennedy School Dean Jeremy Weinstein accepted Summers’ resignation from his position as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, as confirmed by a Harvard representative to Fox News Digital.

The spokesperson further clarified that Summers has decided to retire from his professorship at Harvard at the end of this academic year and will remain on leave until then.

Summers, who has served in high-ranking roles under the Clinton and Obama administrations, conveyed through a spokesperson that the decision to retire was a challenging one. “I have made the difficult decision to retire from my Harvard professorship at the end of this academic year,” he stated.

In related news, UK authorities are set to deliberate on the potential release of confidential documents concerning Prince Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Images of Larry Summers alongside Jeffrey Epstein have surfaced, underscoring the connection between the former Harvard leader and the controversial financier.

“I will always be grateful to the thousands of students and colleagues I have been privileged to teach and work with since coming to Harvard as a graduate student 50 years ago,” read a statement sent to Fox News Digital.

“Free of formal responsibility, as President Emeritus and a retired professor, I look forward in time to engaging in research, analysis, and commentary on a range of global economic issues,” Summers added.

Summers announced last November that he was stepping away from teaching following growing outrage over messages between him and Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

Details of his ties with Epstein had come to light when a House committee released a trove of emails.
