EXCLUSIVE TO FOX: In a noteworthy incident, an undocumented immigrant was detained after arriving at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in Florida for a contracted IT job. The arrest unfolded when officials discovered his immigration status, according to reports from authorities.

Angel Camacho, hailing from Venezuela, had visited the USBP center in Dania Beach, Florida, on January 6 to undertake information technology work. During routine checks by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), officials began scrutinizing his background, as confirmed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to Fox News Digital.

The investigation revealed that Camacho was in breach of U.S. immigration laws, which subsequently led to his arrest. This incident underscores the stringent measures employed by CBP to ensure security and compliance within their facilities.

“CBP conducts thorough vetting of all external visitors before granting access to secure facilities, to maintain both safety and operational integrity,” stated Lauren Bis, DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary, in an official release.

It was during this vetting process that CBP identified Camacho as having overstayed a tourist visa by more than five years, highlighting the ongoing challenges of visa overstay in the United States.

“During the vetting process, CBP uncovered this individual was a tourist visa overstay in the country for over five years.”

Camacho was arrested and transferred to ICE custody, Bis said.

His criminal history includes theft and resisting a Florida Highway Patrol officer, officials said. Federal authorities have nabbed several illegal immigrants in the process of trying to obtain employment in law enforcement and education.

One Sierra Leone citizen was recently arrested as he was training to become a Pennsylvania corrections officer.

Another illegal immigrant, Ian Roberts, served as the former superintendent of Iowa’s largest district, Des Moines Public Schools, before he was arrested by ICE.
