Two charged as police seek to crack 'Coconut Cartel' in Sydney
Two men have been charged as a police strike force works to crack open the self-declared “Coconut Cartel” in Sydney.

Strike Force Helston was formed to curb violence and delve into alleged threats and incidents associated with the notorious syndicate.

In the early hours of Wednesday, January 21, emergency services were alerted to a car fire on Randolph Street in Guildford. Responding quickly, police discovered a Toyota SUV engulfed in flames.

Firefighters promptly extinguished the blaze, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, police noted that cardboard signs referencing the “Coconut Cartel” were left on the vehicle, adding a concerning twist to the incident.

Fast forward to February 19, when authorities conducted a search warrant at a property in Daceyville around 6:30 pm. During the operation, they confiscated several items, including a registration plate, a jerry can, a replica pistol, and 13 mobile phones. Among these devices was one allegedly used as a dedicated encrypted criminal communication device (DECCD), suggesting a deepening investigation into the syndicate’s operations.

At about 6.30pm on February 19, police executed a search warrant in Daceyville, where they seized a registration plate, jerry can, replica pistol, and 13 mobile phones, one of them allegedly a dedicated encrypted criminal communication device (DECCD).

A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with multiple weapons offences, destruction of property, possession of suspected stolen goods, and participating in a criminal group.

He remains in custody and will next appear in court today.

At about 11am yesterday, police arrested a 19-year-old man in Silverwater.

He was charged with destruction of property and participating in a criminal group.

He will also appear in court today.
