The grand opening of Marathon Burger, a tribute to the enduring influence of the late rap legend Nipsey Hussle, was marred by tragedy on Sunday as gunfire erupted outside the new location in Long Beach. The incident left several individuals injured and resulted in one fatality.
The shooting occurred around 3:32 p.m. near the intersection of Third Street and Pine Avenue, where a crowd had gathered to celebrate the eagerly awaited debut of Marathon Burger, a fast-food venture initiated by Hussle’s estate. The Long Beach Police Department reported that the incident involved multiple victims, with one person losing their life due to the injuries sustained.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, the circumstances surrounding it, and are gathering information about potential suspects.
The opening of the Long Beach location was a collaboration with the Broadus family, including iconic rapper Snoop Dogg, who attended the event. Snoop Dogg was warmly welcomed by fans and took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, even taking a turn at the grill.

Unfortunately, the joyous atmosphere was abruptly shattered.
Soon after the festivities began, violence erupted. Eyewitness footage captured the scene, showing one individual being taken away on a gurney.
The shooting remains under active investigation.
