Woman Escapes from Second-Floor Window Amidst Blaze in Los Angeles Building

A heart-stopping scene unfolded in Los Angeles when a woman jumped from the second floor of a burning fourplex to escape the advancing flames and thick smoke.

After landing on a small rooftop structure attached to the building, firefighters quickly rescued her and transported her to the hospital. Her condition remains undisclosed, according to a report by KTLA.

Dramatic images captured at the scene reveal the woman clinging to a ledge several feet above the ground, with dense black smoke swirling ominously overhead during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred in the Historic South Central neighborhood on the 200 block of West 43rd Street. Firefighters rushed to the scene around 1:40 a.m. following reports of individuals trapped inside, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Fire crews battled the blaze using both internal efforts and roof ventilation techniques, according to a department press release.

In total, over 60 firefighters were called upon to extinguish the fire, successfully doing so in 39 minutes. Two women, aged 47 and 61, were taken to the hospital and reported to be in fair condition. Their current status remains unknown.

Arson investigators with the LAFD have been assigned to the scene. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
