Luka Doncic found himself at the center of a personal controversy following the birth of his second child last December. Reports indicate that the NBA star was involved in a heated argument with his fiancée, prompting a call to the police at the hospital where their child was born.

According to TMZ, the 27-year-old Dallas Mavericks player is now separated from his long-time partner, Anamaria Goltes. Goltes, a fashion and fitness model aged 28, has initiated legal proceedings, seeking child support and attorney fees from Doncic.

The couple, who shared a relationship that spanned over seven years, had known each other since their youth before deciding to get engaged. Their first daughter, Gabriela, was born in November 2023, followed by the arrival of their second daughter, Olivia, in December.

Doncic had taken time off from his commitments with the Dallas Mavericks to be present in Slovenia for Olivia’s birth, which meant missing crucial games against the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics.

However, the joyous occasion was marred by a reported altercation at Kranj Maternity Hospital on December 6. According to ESPN, law enforcement was summoned following a disagreement between Doncic and Goltes, further complicating their once-celebrated relationship.

During his visit, he is said to have expressed his desire to bring Gabriela back to the United States with him, which sparked the argument between him and Goltes, who reportedly called the police while still in hospital.

Doncic had ‘peacefully left the hospital’ before she made the call, ESPN’s report claims, with cops later arriving at the scene to interview her. They are also understood to have interviewed the basketball player at his home.

Officers ‘did not detect any elements of a criminal offense or misdemeanor’ perpetrated by Doncic, according to the police report.

Doncic shared a photo of Olivia to Instagram on December 6, the day of the alleged dispute, meaning Goltes had likely given birth to their second daughter before the altercation took place. After flying back to the States that day, it is believed he has not seen his daughters or his now ex-fiancee since.

When he returned to the US, Doncic hinted at the whirlwind visit when he told reporters: ‘I don’t even know how to describe it. It was a lot. I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a rollercoaster.’

Goltes deleted all Instagram photos of her and Doncic last week to fuel speculation over a potential split.

However, he was reportedly left blindsided on Tuesday when she filed a petition in a California court seeking significant child support and attorney fees.

In a statement provided to ESPN, Doncic said: ‘I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the US during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement.

‘Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.’

Doncic put on a brave face on Tuesday night in his first public appearance since confirming his split from Goltes.

Just hours after the news was announced, he took time to sign autographs for fans before lining up to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in LA.

The six-time NBA All-Star was on hand with 31 points, 11 rebounds and as many assists as the Lakers earned a 120-106 victory.
