Joe Rogan, renowned for his influential podcasting, launched a vehement critique of what he perceives as rampant “waste and fraud” within California’s government. He took aim at politicians and commentators advocating for wealthier taxpayers to contribute more under the guise of “paying their fair share.”
On the March 10 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan expressed his frustrations during a conversation with journalist Michael Shellenberger. The discussion centered around California’s spending on homelessness and broader concerns of government inefficiency.
“What frustrates me most is hearing progressive commentators claim they don’t want to pay their fair share,” Rogan remarked.
He continued, questioning, “With all the evident waste and fraud, why would you want to contribute more?”
Rogan, known for his candid style, argued that politicians are turning a blind eye to clear signs of financial mismanagement, while still advocating for increased public expenditure.
“Isn’t there a need for accountability regarding the significant waste and fraud that have been clearly exposed?” Rogan demanded. “Is the solution really just to hand over more money?”
“Oh and they can do it because they have it. So what â you just give more money and now itâs $30 billion goes to homeless with no accountability?”
Rogan questioned whether the billions spent by the state and local governments are actually improving conditions.
“Like where do you think this money is going to go where itâs actually going to help people and affect things in a positive way?” he said. “Thereâs been no indication that thatâs the case.”
He also blasted the idea that the core issue is simply that wealthy taxpayers arenât contributing enough.
“That the real problem is they just havenât had enough money from the billionaires â thatâs fâing ludicrous,” Rogan said. “Itâs such an intellectually lazy way of framing this whole discussion.”
“F-k you, thatâs not whatâs going on here,” he added. “Whatâs going on here you have a completely incompetent government thatâs absolutely corrupt and they want more money.”
Roganâs remarks come as multiple investigations have raised serious questions about fraud and oversight failures in California programs â including a shocking probe into hospice providers in Los Angeles.
A recent investigation highlighted a stretch of Los Angeles that has become “ground zero” for alleged hospice fraud, where hundreds of hospice companies are registered within just a few miles of each other.
Analysts found that roughly 700 of the approximately 1,800 hospice providers in Los Angeles County show red flags for fraud, according to state criteria.
Investigators visiting some of the listed locations reportedly discovered empty storefronts and piles of mail, raising concerns that some providers may be shell companies billing Medicare for services that were never delivered.
“To pretend the solution is just more money,” Rogan said, “is insane.”
