Before February 1, many Americans might not have been familiar with the specifics of Pima County, Arizona, a region neighboring Mexico. However, this area, which includes Tucson, Arizona’s second-largest city, became the focus of national attention at the start of February due to a gripping story involving a local resident, Nancy Guthrie. Recently, the narrative surrounding Guthrie has taken a political twist, diverging from the initial case of her alleged abduction.

If you haven’t caught up with what has become the most talked-about human interest and true crime story of 2026, RedState’s Sister Toldjah has been extensively covering developments over the past several weeks. Guthrie, an 84-year-old mother and grandmother, has been the subject of numerous reports, beginning with an article published on February 2. For more detailed coverage, you can explore additional articles here.

During a press conference, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed unsettling details about the case, including the fact that Guthrie was forced to leave her home against her will. This information has been highlighted in various reports by Toldjah.

Toldjah also shared some information from a press conference held by Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, including the disturbing detail that Guthrie left her home against her will:

“She did not leave on her own. We know that,” he noted.

Toldjah continued:

Later in the day, however, Nanos revealed an even more chilling detail, saying that he believed that Mrs. Guthrie was kidnapped while she was asleep in her bed:

The disappearance is very disturbing to the community, Nanos told MS NOW — formerly known as MSNBC — on Monday, saying investigators believe she was removed from her house against her will.

“You have an 84 year old lady who is home in bed, asleep in the middle of night (and) disappears,” Nanos said. “That’s not Tucson and that’s not who we are here.”
