These incidents highlight the persistent risks that ships face due to Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passageway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply is transported.
Death toll climbs in third week of war
The ongoing conflict in Iran has resulted in over 1,300 fatalities. Meanwhile, Israeli military actions have forced more than a million Lebanese citizens—about 20% of the country’s population—to flee their homes. According to the Lebanese government, 968 people have lost their lives in these attacks.
In Israel, Iranian missile attacks have claimed the lives of 15 individuals, including a Thai agricultural worker who was fatally injured by shrapnel overnight. Additionally, three people were killed in the occupied West Bank following an Iranian missile strike, as reported by the Palestinian Red Crescent.
The conflict has also taken a toll on the United States, with at least 13 of its military personnel killed.
