On October 8, 2025, officers from the Mobile Police Department received a distressing call and arrived at Morgan’s residence to find her 14-year-old son deceased. The initial investigation revealed alarming signs of neglect in the home, which Morgan shared with her two children, ages 14 and 16, both diagnosed with autism. The authorities’ findings painted a bleak picture of the living conditions and care provided to the teenagers.

Months after this discovery, Morgan faced charges of murder and aggravated child abuse. Reports from local news sources, including Fox affiliate WALA, detailed the dire conditions in which the children were allegedly left. The chilling account of the boy’s death and the neglectful environment ignited outrage and concern.

During a recent bond hearing, further details emerged. According to a report by CBS affiliate WKRG, court testimony described how Morgan often left her children alone for extended periods. This negligence reportedly culminated in the tragic incident where her 14-year-old son was found lifeless, with a blanket wrapped around his neck. The autopsy concluded his death as an “accidental strangulation,” intensifying the scrutiny on Morgan’s actions.

Testimonies also shed light on the appalling state of the home, which lacked basic amenities such as air conditioning and running water and was infested with insects and human waste. These conditions starkly contrasted the standard of care required for children, especially those with special needs, and have raised questions about how the situation was allowed to deteriorate to such an extent.

According to an autopsy report, the 14-year-old boy was found with a blanket wrapped around his neck. His cause of death was stated as “accidental strangulation.” Testimony revealed that the home was apparently kept in a poor living condition; the home had no air conditioning or running water, and it was infested with insects and human waste.

WKRG reported that Morgan’s 16-year-old was hospitalized for malnutrition. At the bond hearing, Morgan was ordered not to have contact with her surviving child.

A judge set Morgan’s bond at $40,000 for the aggravated abuse charge and $400,000 for the murder charge. She remains in custody at the Mobile County Metro Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 24.
