A tragic accident took the life of a 16-year-old boy on Friday when he fell from a cell tower while taking photos for social media. The incident occurred at Brooklyn’s Bushwick Inlet Park, a location known for its panoramic views of the city skyline, according to police and other sources.
The fall happened around 1:15 p.m. at the park situated at North 10th Street and Kent Avenue. Authorities received a 911 call that prompted police to rush to the scene.
The teenager, whose identity has not been released as authorities are still notifying his family, was quickly transported to Bellevue Hospital. Initially listed in critical condition, he later died from his injuries, police confirmed.
Sources have indicated that the boy was attempting to capture photos for social media when the tragic event unfolded. Details regarding who was with him at the time of the fall or who made the emergency call remain unclear.
The boy was taking photos from social media when the tragic fall happened, sources said.
It was not immediately clear who was with the teen at the time, or who called 911.
The cell tower is surrounded by a fence, but it’s not much of a deterrent.
A Post reporter spotted three youngsters slipping under the fence hours after Friday’s tragedy.
“We come in here all the time,” one of the kids said before the trio left when they learned a teen had just fallen to death.
