A subway mugger targeted a Muslim woman in a shocking attack, hurling her to the ground while making threatening remarks about Mayor Zohran Mamdani, according to police and sources.

The incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. on March 17 as the 20-year-old woman waited on the northbound D train platform at Ninth Avenue and 39th Street in Borough Park. The assailant began following her, police reported.

“It’s funny how terrorists can walk around now,” he reportedly taunted, as per law enforcement sources, before cornering her.

A hate-fueled attacker called a woman a “terrorist” during a brutal anti-Muslim mugging in a Brooklyn train station last week, cops and sources said Tuesday.
“It’s funny how terrorists can walk around now,” the attacker allegedly told the victim, before adding, “The mayor can’t help you now.” NYPD

In a reference to Mayor Mamdani, the first Muslim mayor of the city, the attacker allegedly said, “The mayor can’t help you now.”

Authorities and sources indicate the mugger then seized her by the arms, shook her violently, and threw her to the ground.

After the assault, the attacker stole the woman’s cell phone and fled the scene, police said.

It was unclear Tuesday whether the victim – who was treated on the scene for minor injuries – was wearing distinctive religious garb at the time of the attack.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, last seen wearing a black and white jacket, dark-colored pants and black shoes, cops said.

Footage released by the department shows the ruffian jumping the turnstile on his way into the station.
