Bryan Kohberger caught in casual conversation with DMV worker about murders he committed

Recently unveiled surveillance footage reveals Bryan Kohberger entering a Washington Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office, where he nonchalantly requested a change of license plate. During his visit, he engaged in a relaxed conversation with an employee who brought up the shocking murders of four Idaho college students, which Kohberger had committed just days prior.

The video, provided to Storyful by the Washington State Department of Licensing, captures Kohberger at the Pullman Vehicle Vessel Licensing office on November 18, 2022. In the footage, he discusses his East Coast origins and engages in a friendly exchange about baseball teams with the DMV employee.

The DMV worker reveals her background, mentioning she is originally from the Bay Area. However, she expresses a preference for living in Washington over California.

During their conversation, she comments, “I really like it though, I like how small, quiet, and I would say safe it is here, but the whole Moscow incident makes it feel a little less so,” referring to the recent murders in Idaho.

Her comment was a direct reference to Kohberger’s slaying of four University of Idaho students at their Moscow home early on November 13.

The former Washington State University PhD student was arrested on December 30, 2022, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.

In July last year, Kohberger was sentenced to life in prison without parole after agreeing to plead guilty to murder as part of a deal with prosecutors to avoid the death penalty.
