Kelvin Demond Williams (Cherokee County Sheriff”s Office). Tenisha Williams (Cherokee County District Attorney).

In a harrowing incident in Georgia, Kelvin Demond Williams, aged 48, was found guilty of a brutal crime that left his community in shock. The disturbing events unfolded as Williams cornered his wife, Tenisha Williams, in their kitchen, fatally shooting her before callously asking, “you dead, [expletive]?” and nonchalantly lighting a cigarette while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

On Thursday, Williams faced conviction for murder, aggravated assault, and additional charges in connection to the tragic death of his wife and the attempted shooting of his stepson. The Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Superior Court Judge Shannon Wallace handed down a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 100 years.

The violent episode took place around 10:40 p.m. on July 13, 2025, at their residence on Daventry Crossing in Woodstock, which lies about 10 miles north of Marietta. A 16-year-old boy, Williams’ stepson, made a desperate call to 911, reporting that his stepfather was actively shooting at him and had shot his mother. The teenager, in a state of terror, hid in a bedroom while his 4-year-old brother slept in another room, blissfully unaware of the chaos.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Williams in the kitchen, calmly smoking a cigarette. He was swiftly arrested, and police then discovered Tenisha Williams in the same kitchen, lifeless as a result of a gunshot wound. The firearm used in the attack was found on the kitchen island. The officers safely removed the uninjured teenager and his younger brother from the premises.

Throughout the nearly four-day trial, jurors were presented with chilling in-home camera footage capturing the incident. The video revealed Williams initially firing a shot aimed at his stepson’s head, which fortunately missed. He subsequently shot twice at Tenisha and fired again at his stepson as he fled to his bedroom, none of which hit their target until the tragic final shot.

The footage showed Williams mercilessly cornering his wife as she pleaded for her life. The fifth and final shot was fatal, marking the tragic end of Tenisha’s life. His last words to her, delivered with cold indifference, will forever remain a haunting testament to the brutality of the crime.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe, who prosecuted the case, said the evidence was “overwhelming.” Jurors deliberated for less than an hour.

“Over the course of years, the defendant systematically isolated his wife and controlled her movements, even requiring her to wear a Bluetooth device so he could monitor her when she left the home,” Ashe said. “Evidence showed that on the day of the murder, he had her purchase and load the firearm he would later use to kill her. To this day, the defendant has shown no remorse, only indifference and cruelty.”

Family members at sentencing described the defendant’s control over her as so strict that she was not allowed to speak with her adult children nor permitted to attend her own mother’s funeral.

The judge said Kelvin Williams’ actions were “unfathomable.”

District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway said the violence inflicted upon the victim was “evil and inexcusable.”

“We are deeply grateful to the jury, who were asked to watch and hear things no one should ever have to experience,” she said. “They did so with care, courage, and a commitment to justice. Our hearts go out to the innocent children who will be forever affected by this senseless, brutal murder.”
