On Monday, President Trump suggested that an agreement with Iran is likely on the horizon. However, he issued a stern warning that if negotiations fall through, the United States is prepared to destroy Iran’s oil fields and power infrastructure.
Trump took to Truth Social to update on the situation, announcing, “The United States of America is engaged in significant discussions with a NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to bring an end to our military operations in Iran.”
He emphasized the progress being made but cautioned, “Should a deal not be reached soon, which I believe it will be, and if the Strait of Hormuz is not swiftly reopened for commerce, we will conclude our operations in Iran by targeting and completely destroying all their electric generating facilities, oil wells, and Kharg Island.”
Despite the ongoing conflict and frequent assaults, Trump noted that the US has deliberately refrained from targeting these critical sites thus far. “This restraint has been maintained despite the old regime’s 47-year ‘Reign of Terror,’ during which many of our soldiers and others have been killed by Iran,” he stated.
“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror’,” he said.
