Sons pay tribute to mother-of-eight killed in horror head-on smash
Tributes are flowing for a Victorian grandmother killed in a horror head-on crash in south-east Queensland over the Easter long weekend.

Roza Abebwa from Wyndham Vale was involved in a tragic incident while departing her grandson’s birthday celebration in Logan, just south of Brisbane, on Saturday night. The vehicle she was in suffered a head-on collision with another car.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, focusing on whether a group of four teenagers in a Ford Falcon ute had previously attended a hooning event at Logan Reserve before speeding down the wrong side of the road.

The collision occurred when the ute crashed directly into the Ford Focus where Roza was a passenger.

Alongside Roza, her youngest daughter, only two years old, and her 28-year-old niece were also injured in the accident and are now recuperating in the hospital.

Roza, a 51-year-old mother of eight and grandmother to seven, is fondly remembered by her family. Her sons have described her as a vibrant and loving presence in their lives, illuminating the lives of everyone she encountered.

“She was truly one of the best human beings,” her son, Rashidi Edward, expressed in tribute.

“I’m yet to find a person who makes better food than my mum.

Gode Edward said “it’s not fair”.

“She was innocent. She was innocent,” he said.

As Roza’s family prepare to lay her to rest, they’ve set up a fundraising page to help bring her back to Melbourne.

Her sons are also warning thrillseekers of the dangers of the road.

“It just takes one second,” Gode said.

“You may think it’s fun, but there are people out there, things can happen. It’s not fair.”

No charges have been laid.
