Gainesville, Fla. – In a bid to track down the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident, the Gainesville Police Department is reaching out to the community for assistance. The incident in question involved a white Chevrolet van that collided with a scooter on NE Waldo Road in the early hours of April 7. At approximately 5:45 a.m., the crash left the scooter rider with serious injuries and the driver of the van fled the scene, heading southbound after a brief stop in the median.

Investigators at the crash site recovered white paint chips and a Chevrolet emblem, pointing to the involvement of a Chevrolet van. Authorities suggest the vehicle, likely a newer model ranging from 2003 to 2025, would have noticeable front-end damage from the collision.

The police are urging anyone with information about this vehicle or the incident to come forward.
