New Jersey Chick-fil-A shooting leaves multiple injured; police investigating

A violent incident erupted inside a Chick-fil-A restaurant in New Jersey on Saturday night, resulting in several people being injured. Reports indicate that a group of men stormed into the establishment, went behind the food counter, and began shooting.

The chaos unfolded shortly before 9 p.m. at the Route 22 location in Union. The fast-food outlet has since been locked down, with some employees reportedly remaining inside as Union County police conduct their investigation, according to WABC and CBS New York.

A witness, whose girlfriend works at the restaurant, shared with CBS that a group of masked men forced their way behind the counter and opened fire, discharging multiple shots.

A family member of one of the employees noted that an altercation ensued, resulting in several staff members being injured by the gunfire.

A Lyft driver recounted to WABC, “I heard the shots.”

“After finishing a trip, I went to Chick-fil-A to buy two burgers — as I arrived, I saw the police and heard the shots very close,” he added.

One worker’s father called the scene a “warzone.”

It’s unclear how many people were injured or whether there are any casualties.
