Police probe if 'kill car' was being driven by crime crew for hire

Detectives are currently exploring the possibility that a crew was hired for a criminal hit outside the Wenty Leagues club in Wentworthville.

Three individuals were apprehended, among them were 28-year-old Dean Saunders and 24-year-old Chayce Jensen. They face charges related to weapons offenses and involvement with a criminal group.

The pursuit began when officers from the Raptor squad reportedly observed the trio wearing balaclavas inside a white Audi parked at Wenty Leagues around 2 p.m. yesterday.

Investigators are looking into whether the group intended to execute a criminal hit, given that a pistol and rifle were allegedly discovered in the Audi.

The vehicle has been connected to various underworld shootings and arson attacks throughout south-west Sydney.

That includes a shooting on March 14, a firebombing on March 20 and another drive-by last Tuesday on the same Panania house.

On the same night police alleged the stolen car was used in shootings at Colyton and St John’s Park.

9News is not suggesting those arrested are involved in these other crimes.

Police say the target who lives at the house in Panania is linked to the G7 gang.

Members of this gang are often young men who are hired by heavyweight criminals to carry out underworld contracts.

The three accused didn’t apply for bail in court today but plan to in coming weeks.

9News understands they don’t have any strong links to any criminal groups and police allege they are a crime crew for hire.

The Audi is being forensically examined and investigators say it could have been used by a number of different criminals for dozens of underworld jobs.
