A tragic shooting at a Chick-fil-A in Union Township, NJ, resulted in one fatality on Saturday, authorities have confirmed.

Officials reported that six additional individuals sustained injuries, though none are life-threatening, in what marks the 100th mass shooting incident in the United States this year.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the shooting “does not appear to be a random act of violence.” However, they have not yet disclosed any potential motives behind the attack.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and law enforcement is actively searching for those responsible, according to officials.

The violent episode occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at the fast-food establishment on Route 22, prompting a lockdown while investigators meticulously searched for clues.

A man, whose girlfriend is employed at the location, shared with CBS that a group of masked individuals stormed the restaurant, forcing their way behind the counter and discharging several shots.

One worker’s father described the scene as a “war zone.”

The prosecutor’s office is asking the public to submit tips by phone at 908-654-TIPS (8477) or online at — noting that tips resulting in an indictment and conviction can be eligible for a reward up to $10,000 via Union County Crime Stoppers.
