Trump mulls fresh strikes on Iran after peace talks collapse

President Donald Trump is contemplating new military actions against Iran following the breakdown of critical peace negotiations, according to recent reports. This development coincides with the United States’ plan to initiate a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

Sources informed the Wall Street Journal that the president is weighing the possibility of conducting targeted military strikes on Iran.

Among the options under consideration is a comprehensive bombing campaign aimed at Iran’s infrastructure. Although this remains a possibility, it is seen as a less likely course of action after talks with the Islamic Republic in Pakistan reached an impasse on Sunday.

In a renewed warning, Trump indicated he might focus on Iran’s infrastructure.

“I would hate to do it, but it’s their water, their desalinization plants, their electric-generating plants, which are very easy to hit,” Trump stated during an interview with Fox News on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the White House refrained from commenting on the specifics of Trump’s strategy as the blockade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.

“The President has already ordered a naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, ending the Iranian extortion, and wisely keeps all additional options on the table,” White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales told the Journal. “Anyone who is telling The Wall Street Journal that they know what President Trump will do next is purely speculating.”

US Central Command announced Sunday the US military would stop “all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports.”

The blockade will be enforced “impartially” against all nations, regardless of ships’ point of origin, officials said.

“Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump declared on Truth Social Sunday.
