Gun-toting goon who allegedly killed 7-month-old claimed he ‘fell off’ moped — not shot girl: court docs

Man Accused of Killing 7-Month-Old Claims Tragic Incident Was Moped Accident, Not Shooting: Court Documents Reveal

The man accused of fatally shooting a 7-month-old girl in Brooklyn claimed he was merely meeting a friend when he “fell off” his moped, according to new court documents. Meanwhile, the alleged getaway driver expressed frustration over being involved in “stupid stuff” following his arrest.

Amuri Greene, 21, the alleged shooter, maintained that he was just “driving around” and not the one who fired the weapon when the stray bullet tragically hit baby Kaori Patterson-Moore in the head as she sat in her stroller in Williamsburg earlier this month, as outlined in the court filings.

Greene reportedly told an EMS worker in an ambulance after the April 1 incident, which resulted in the baby’s death and her 2-year-old brother being grazed by a bullet, “I was meeting my friend.”

According to the document from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Greene added, “I fell off my moped.”

Authorities allege that Greene fired from the back of a motorized scooter into a crowd near Humboldt and Moore Streets around 1:20 p.m. His alleged accomplice, Matthew Rodriguez, crashed the moped two blocks away, which led to Greene’s hospitalization.

Greene, who was subsequently arrested at the hospital, claimed he couldn’t recall his birth date or even his name. However, he admitted to officers that he had been on the back of the bike and later identified himself in a photograph.

“I just drove, I promise you, I was just riding around cuz what just happened,” Greene allegedly told officers, while also claiming that he had been fired at by a “rapper” near the Marcy Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant a week before the fatal shooting.

The new details surrounding the tragedy come as both Greene and Rodriguez, 18, were arraigned this week on a 17-count indictment charging them with murder, assault and other counts.

Law enforcement sources have said that the duo were allegedly targeting the baby’s father, Jamari Patterson, over a drill rap beef between dueling gangs at the Marcy Houses and the nearby Bushwick Houses.

Heart-breaking surveillance video showed distraught mom Lianna Moore screaming when she saw her wounded baby, who had just started to say “mama,” according to her family.

Rodriguez, who fled to Pennsylvania before being picked up by US Marshals and extradited back to Brooklyn, whined to reporters Monday that he was innocent and that he had no clue the shooting was “going to happen.”

While in custody in Creco, PA., Rodriguez appeared to have an existential crisis in front of a US Marshals officer when he seemingly began questioning his decisions, the court docs show.

“Why do I keep getting dragged into stupid s–t,” Rodriguez allegedly said to authorities on April 3. “Oh my God, how do I get myself dragged into this stupid s–t.”

Both Greene and Rodriguez pleaded not guilty and were ordered held without bail as the case progresses.
