Eastbound 105 Freeway still closed, hours after man found shot inside car

A portion of the eastbound 105 Freeway in Los Angeles remains closed hours after authorities discovered a driver shot in his vehicle on Thursday afternoon. This closure has led to significant traffic congestion throughout the area.

The situation began unfolding around 1:45 p.m., when California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of an unresponsive driver slumped over the steering wheel of a black Toyota Camry.

The car was found in the carpool lane, just west of Vermont Avenue, on the eastbound side of the freeway.

Traffic on the 105 Freeway came to a complete halt, with vehicles backed up for miles.

A shattered rear passenger window with a bullet hole was a focal point of the scene.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

In response to the shooting, authorities shut down all lanes of the eastbound 105 Freeway west of Vermont Avenue, causing major traffic backups and widespread disruption.

Investigators are now working to identify whoever opened fire, but no suspect or suspect vehicle has been located.

No weapons were recovered at the scene, and authorities have not determined what led to the shooting.

The California Post has reached out to CHP for further details.
