A Brazilian mother of three is in intensive care after allegedly being hit by a car driven by her estranged husband following her birthday celebration.

Leidiane, a 39-year-old content creator, was enjoying a party at her home in Curitiba on Sunday when an altercation erupted with her ex-husband Clair, from whom she had recently separated after a five-year relationship, as reported by the Brazilian news outlet Record.

The relationship between the two had been marred by accusations of domestic violence, according to the report. Tensions flared once more when Clair accused Leidiane of taking his cellphone.

The argument escalated outside the gathering, where Clair allegedly got into his car and drove toward Leidiane, as per the outlet’s account.

Leidiane suffered serious injuries, including a fractured femur, and was taken to intensive care, her aunt, Elisangela Markuetti, confirmed.

“She will need surgery to have a pin inserted, and she is feeling very distraught,” Markuetti stated.

An attempted femicide investigation is underway and her family is calling for justice.
