81-year-old Dodgers season ticket member finally given paper tickets back

The Los Angeles Dodgers have taken steps to amend their approach after an 81-year-old devoted fan’s story gained widespread attention recently.

Errol Segal, a dedicated Dodgers season ticket holder for over half a century, has consistently chosen printed paper tickets to enjoy games at Dodger Stadium.

This year, however, the team’s move to an exclusively digital ticket policy threatened Segal’s attendance, as he does not possess a smartphone.

Initially hesitant to accommodate Segal’s needs, the team has now decided to provide him with printed tickets, according to reports from NBC Los Angeles.

Segal, who operates a recycling center in South Los Angeles, has relied on a flip phone for years, making digital ticket access a challenge.

Earlier this month, Segal expressed his disappointment, stating he felt “actually depressed” when the Dodgers initially declined his request for paper tickets.

The team offered to buy his tickets back, but he refused, adding, “50 years I’ve had these tickets. They threw me under the bus.”

He added, “It makes me so happy when I hand them the ticket and the smile on their face. There’s nothing like an original paper ticket.”

Now that he has his tickets, he’s looking forward to heading to Chavez Ravine to root on the Boys in Blue as they continue their quest for a third straight World Series championship.

“I’m with them whether they win or lose,” Segal said. “I love everything about the Dodgers.”

Sadler made headlines a few years ago, when he offered free gas cards in exchange for a bulk of 3,000 pounds of either paper, cardboard or metal.

As for the Dodgers, Sadler won’t be able to see them for at least another week.

The team started a seven-game road trip in Denver on Friday, taking on the Colorado Rockies in the first of a four-game set.

They will then head to the Bay Area for a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, before heading home for a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs on April 24.
