Sharonica Davis, 37, was already detained on unrelated charges when Bossier City Police issued a warrant implicating her in the incident involving her young daughter. According to KTAL, an NBC affiliate, a spokesperson from the Bossier City Police Department confirmed that Davis is now facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, following an investigation by the department’s Juvenile Division.
Bossier City Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Shawn Poudrier reported that the 4-year-old was taken to Ochsner Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 8, suffering from broken wrists and forearms. Initially, authorities were told the child had accidentally fallen from a second-story window at the Mirage Apartments in Bossier City. However, further investigation revealed that the incident was not accidental.
Police have accused Davis of being responsible for her daughter’s injuries, asserting that she “pushed her [daughter], kicked her out of the window.”
Davis was subsequently booked into the Caddo Correctional Facility on the same day for unrelated charges, one of which includes cruelty to a juvenile, as reported by KTAL. Detectives from the Bossier City Police Department interviewed Davis while she was in custody. She is anticipated to be extradited back to Bossier City in the near future.
Davis was booked into the Caddo Correctional Facility on the same day for separate charges related to the incident, police said. One of those charges was cruelty to a juvenile, KTAL reported. Detectives from the Bossier City Police Department questioned Davis while she was in custody. She is expected to be extradited to Bossier City at a later date.
KTAL reported that the girl was treated for her injuries and released from the hospital. She is now in the care of the Department of Children and Family Services.
Davis’ next court date was not available. Online records show that she remains in custody in Caddo Parish.
