The Tennessee Senate has moved forward with Senate Bill 2040, a piece of legislation aimed at preventing pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) from holding or influencing a pharmacy license within the state. Should this bill become law, companies would face a choice: they could either function as a PBM or possess retail pharmacies in Tennessee, but not engage in both activities simultaneously.
