Machine Gun Kelly, often referred to as MGK, has disclosed a surprising restriction that affects his travel plans. The 36-year-old musician recently shared that he is unable to utilize TSA PreCheck or any expedited boarding services for flights, a consequence of his past legal issues.
During an episode of the Take Flight podcast, MGK, who is no stranger to making headlines—just last week he responded to a fan’s criticism—explained his predicament to host Hadyn Wings. The conversation took place backstage at Sydney’s Kudos Bank Arena, where Kelly revealed that a previous drug possession charge bars him from accessing these convenient travel programs.
Reflecting on the incident, Kelly recounted, “I got caught with cocaine on the way back from New Zealand the last time I was here. It made traveling really challenging because I have a level one narcotics possession on my record.” This legal hurdle took him eight years to navigate before he could return to Australia.
MGK humorously lamented his situation, stating, “I still don’t get [TSA] PreCheck or Global Entry or any of that fast stuff in the airport. I’m still stuck in lines like everyone else.” Despite his celebrity status, it seems some aspects of travel remain decidedly ordinary for him.
However, there is a silver lining to his story. In August 2024, MGK publicly announced that he had achieved nearly a year of sobriety, a significant personal milestone for the father of two.
Earlier this month MGK – real name Colson Baker – took to Instagram to share photos from his time in Oceania, writing in a caption: ‘I won’t wait 8 years to come back again. thank you Australia, love ya heeps.’

In August 2024 the father-of-two announced he had been sober for almost one year.
While on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, he opened up about his decision to stop using drugs and drinking alcohol.
The rapper explained he needed to ‘zoom out’ and address ‘generational curses’ in order to get clean.
‘I had to zoom out and take a look at myself from a holistic perspective,’ he later told People in September 2024. ‘I was born on the 22nd. Twenty-two is a master number. What am I here to master? I had to ask myself that question.’
While reflecting on his birthday last week, MGK shared an adorable video reading to his one-year-old daughter Saga.
He wrote on social media, ‘I usually I throw a big birthday party today, but this all I want.’

He is also dad to 16-year-old daughter Casie, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Emma Cannon.

Saga turned one on March 27, and on April 1 the doting dad used Instagram to pay tribute to the little girl.
He shared a slew of photos with his 9.2 million followers and simply wrote, ‘1,’ in the caption, along with cupcake and burning heart emojis.
Fox and MGK have opted to keep their daughter’s face private.
Last August the rock star heaped praise on the actress for caring for Saga.
While appearing on the Today show when she was four months old, he told host Jenna Bush Hager, ‘I want to detract all of the congrats to me and just move it to Megan because she really does all the work.’
He joked, ‘I keep getting called ‘the music teacher,” before sharing, ‘Someone the other day was like, ‘You’re such a good dad!’ just because I was holding the baby.
‘And [Megan] was fuming, like, ‘No, no, no, no.’ She’s the one. I just play the guitar and pray that the baby is happy.’
