Man, 26, stabbed to death outside NYC bar: NYPD

Tragedy struck early Sunday morning in Brooklyn when a 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed outside a local bar, following an altercation that escalated violently, authorities reported.

The victim, identified by police as Amare Simmons, resided at a Manhattan shelter. During the incident, which occurred around 1:45 a.m. outside Marco’s in the Bushwick neighborhood, Simmons sustained a fatal stab wound to the abdomen and a slash across his face. Another man, aged 28, was also injured, suffering a slash to his left arm.

Simmons was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was later declared dead. The second victim was treated and is currently in stable condition, as confirmed by the New York Police Department.

Law enforcement officials have detained two persons of interest and have retrieved a knife from the crime scene as part of their investigation.

While police have not yet disclosed the exact details that led to the deadly confrontation, sources indicated that a dispute preceded the attack.

Simmons was registered at the 30th Street Men’s Intake Center in Manhattan, according to official records.

Marco’s posted on its social media page that it was closed on Sunday but would reopen on Monday.

The bar is usually open seven days a week and does not close until 4 a.m.
