During the early evening hours on Monday, a teenager found himself caught in a harrowing incident while aboard a Queens-bound A train. According to police reports, the young passenger, whose identity remains undisclosed, was shot in the torso just as the subway neared the 80th Street station in Ozone Park around 6 p.m.

The 15-year-old victim was swiftly transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he is currently in stable condition, receiving medical care.

Witnesses and authorities have revealed that shortly after the shooting, a group of two to three teenagers was seen fleeing the scene as the train pulled into the station. This prompted a rapid response from law enforcement.

In the aftermath, police detained two individuals of interest. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether these individuals are among those who were seen escaping the area.

The NYPD continues to investigate this unsettling event, seeking to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The community remains on edge as officials work diligently to bring clarity and justice to the situation.

An investigation is still ongoing.

The MTA said that the A train service will be “severely disrupted” as the investigation continues, with the line outright bypassing 80 Street for the time being.

Other A train services in the area are “extremely limited,” according to an MTA spokesperson.
