Bill Maher and comedian David Cross found themselves in a heated exchange over transgender issues and the so-called “looney left,” culminating with Maher jestingly remarking, “Good luck with President Vance.”
The debate unfolded on Maher’s podcast, “Club Random,” on Monday. The discussion kicked off with the topic of transgender women participating in women’s sports. Cross mentioned that his 9-year-old daughter has transgender friends in her third-grade class, which served as a catalyst for the conversation to delve deeper.
Cross acknowledged he resides in a “bubble” and expressed his desire to shield his daughter from the negativity of the outside world. This confession transitioned the dialogue toward broader discussions on transgender rights and the implications for sports.

Maher shared a story involving Democratic Representative Seth Moulton from Massachusetts, who has publicly disagreed with his party over the issue of transgender women in female sports.
“He mentioned, ‘I don’t want my 12-year-old daughter to be on the soccer field and get knocked over by someone identifying as a woman but biologically male,’ and many people cheered him for that stance,” Maher recounted.
He continued by referring to an Olympic event where a transgender woman, originally born male, defeated a female competitor in boxing. “It disturbed a lot of people,” Maher commented, reflecting on the broader public reaction.
“It’s very disturbing to watch because it’s a man beating the s–t out of a woman. I’m just saying there’s stuff inside the bubble that could be bad.”
Cross claimed he’s seen pre-pubescent girls “kick the s–t out of boys” as he tried to challenge the host.
“This is what’s wrong with the looney left, they just die on the hills that are unnecessary to die on,” Maher said.
Later on in the show, Cross mentioned how his daughter has transgender friends at school.
“Wait, she has trans friends in third grade?” Maher quizzically asked. “They know they’re trans in third grade?”

Maher tried to argue that children of that age are not old enough to decide what gender they want to be.
“I knew somebody who said to me, a woman said ‘I was with what they called a tomboy. If I was alive now and acted the way I did then, that’s what they would have done to me,’” he said, recalling a past conversation.
“Well nobody’s doing this to her,” Cross said.
“Somebody is doing something because 8 or 9-year-olds can’t do anything on their own,” Maher clapped back.
After they agreed to disagree, Maher quipped: “Good luck with President Vance.
“As I always say to my woke friends, we voted for the same person. You’re just why she lost. This is a case of that.”
Cross was visibly stunned as he said: “Wait, what?”
“We voted for the same person, You’re just why she lost,” Maher repeated.
“America hears this and they’re going to go ‘Bill’s right, eight-year-olds can’t really make decisions on their own like this.
“That’s what most people are going to say. And this is where the Democrats are with David Cross living in Brooklyn with Mamdami loving, and this is why, you know, we’re going to vote for JD Vance. That’s America in a nutshell.”
