Chicago St. Jude Memorial March to honor fallen Chicago police officers, Gold Star families; multiple road closures in Loop Sunday

This Sunday, the St. Jude Memorial March will take place in downtown Chicago, serving as a poignant tribute to the city’s fallen police officers.

Gold Star families, along with members of the community, are set to gather around 6:30 a.m. to commence the march. Participants will begin their journey from Michigan Avenue, stretching between Superior Street and Wacker Drive.

This event holds particular significance this year, as it follows closely on the heels of a tragic incident where CPD Officer John Bartholomew lost his life, and his partner was injured in a shooting.

Street Closures

Due to the march, downtown traffic is expected to experience disruptions from as early as 4 a.m., continuing until noon on Sunday. Motorists should be aware that parking will be prohibited on all streets from Oak Street to the Chicago River and from LaSalle Drive to Saint Clair Street until the event concludes at noon.

Road closures in the area will also remain in effect until noon, so attendees and residents are advised to plan accordingly for these changes.

The following closures will be in effect until noon.

-Michigan Ave., from Pearson St. to Wacker Dr.

-Chicago Ave., from Clark St.to Miles Van Der Rohe Way

-Dearborn St., from Huron St.to Pearson St.

-State St., from Huron St.to Pearson St.

-Wabash Ave, from Huron St.to Pearson St.

-Rush St., from Huron St.to Pearson St.

-Superior St., from Saint Clair St.to Rush St.

-Huron St., from Saint Clair St.to Rush St.

-Erie St., from Saint Clair St.to Rush St.

-Ontario St., from Saint Clair St.to Rush St.

-Ohio St., from Saint Clair St.to Rush St.

-Upper Illinois St., from Michigan Ave. to Saint Clair St.
