LOS ANGELES — Disney recently pulled out all the stops to honor the grand finale of an acclaimed “Star Wars” animated series, marking the end of an epic journey in style.
The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank became a vibrant hub of excitement as fans gathered to celebrate the final two episodes of “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.” The venue was transformed into a spectacle showcasing the series’ striking animation and gripping narratives, capturing the hearts of attendees.
Both cast members and ardent fans united to watch the finale, sharing the exhilarating experience of this momentous occasion together.
Reflecting on the series’ impact and legacy, Sam Witwer, who has portrayed Maul for over a decade, paid tribute to the visionary behind it all — George Lucas.
“George created an extraordinary filmmaking legacy. Lucasfilm Animation, along with Lucasfilm overall, has essentially become a film school under his guidance,” Witwer shared with On The Red Carpet.
He added, “Every department head has had the privilege of working under George. I, too, had that experience indirectly through Dave. It’s fascinating to see the journey and evolution of this incredible franchise.”
Newcomer Gideon Adlon, who plays Jedi apprentice Devon Izara, didn’t hold back her excitement about joining the galaxy far, far away.
“The team nailed it, the writers, the director, the artists, everybody, Dave, Sam are incredible and I just feel lucky that I got to be a part of something that’s making fans finally like jump for joy and like a connection they’ve been missing in the Star Wars world,” she said.
Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni was also in attendance and was happy to be surrounded by fans.
“It’s always the best when you get a whole group of fans together to watch something like this, there’s great energy,” he said.
“I think it’s great for the team who made the series, all the talent involved.”
All episodes of “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” are streaming now on Disney+.
