Since the operation commenced in 2023, authorities have apprehended all 62 individuals identified, comprising 61 men and one woman. They have faced over 400 charges, and police have successfully safeguarded 20 children who were victims, according to official statements.

The intensive investigation, which spanned three years, concluded around 5 a.m. yesterday with the arrest of a suspect in Corrimal.

The 37-year-old was taken to Wollongong Police Station following the alleged discovery of large amounts of child abuse material on multiple devices.

This individual, a 37-year-old man, has been charged with 21 offenses related to the possession of illegal materials.

Denied bail, he appeared in court today to face the charges.

Adam Powderly, Commander of the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad, stated that this operation resulted in one of the highest numbers of arrests ever achieved under a single investigation by the state’s sex crimes squad.

“Every image shared, every file accessed, represents a real child who has been harmed,” he said.

“Today’s final arrest closes one of the biggest CEIU strike forces to date and has made a significant dent in the number of paedophiles operating in NSW, disrupting a key part of Australia’s online child abuse network.”
