NEWBERRY, Fla. – In the wake of a heated exchange following a Newberry City Commission candidates’ forum, Brandy Lee Oldman, aged 41, finds herself facing a battery charge. The accusation stems from an incident on March 29, where Oldman is said to have forcefully knocked a woman’s phone from her hand.
The altercation took place around 3:15 p.m. as Oldman and the other woman engaged in a verbal dispute. During this exchange, the victim began recording the argument, at which point Oldman allegedly approached her and struck the phone from her grasp.
An eyewitness stepped in to defuse the situation, offering testimony that reportedly aligns with the victim’s account of events. This corroboration played a significant role in the subsequent legal action.
While Oldman has been charged via a sworn complaint, it is important to note that this approach was taken due to her cooperative demeanor at the scene and her clean criminal record. As of now, the court has not issued a Notice to Appear or a warrant for her arrest.
The court system does not show a Notice to Appear or a warrant for Oldman’s arrest.
