Nearly a dozen injured after possible boat explosion at popular Florida tourist destination

On a bustling Saturday afternoon, a potential boat explosion at Haulover Sandbar, a well-known hotspot in North Miami Beach, Florida, left nearly a dozen people injured. This popular tourist attraction turned into a scene of chaos and concern as emergency responders rushed to the site.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported to Fox News Digital that 11 individuals were transported to the hospital for medical attention. The exact number of injuries remains undisclosed, and as of 5 p.m., the conditions of those affected are still unknown.

In response to the emergency, over 25 units were rapidly dispatched to the location just after 12:55 p.m. local time. The coordinated effort included Fireboat 21, Ocean Rescue units, and assistance from partner agencies such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard.

While the specifics of the incident are still under investigation, officials have yet to verify whether an explosion was indeed the cause of the injuries. The community and authorities alike await further details as the situation unfolds.

Officials have not yet confirmed if the incident involved an explosion.

“As we’re in the midst of boating season, we want to remind our community to always prioritize safety while out on the water,” fire officials told Fox News Digital. “Make sure your vessel is equipped with a working fire extinguisher and all required safety equipment. Before departure, perform a thorough safety check to ensure your boat is in good working condition and free of potential hazards.
