Who is James Murray?
Many are asking tonight: who is this new Health Secretary hastily introduced to the public?
The announcement of Mr. Murray’s appointment seemed to reflect the urgency of the situation, with the official letter featuring inconsistent formatting and a variety of fonts.
In a twist of irony, only this morning, he assured listeners on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that “[Streeting] is the Health Secretary, and I hope he remains so by the end of the day.”
However, the day took an unexpected turn as the MP for Ealing North was promoted amidst yet another turbulent 24 hours in Westminster, moving from his previous position as Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
Mr. Murray’s political journey began when he was elected as a councillor in 2006, later serving as the executive member for housing and development at Islington Council from 2010 to 2016.
He further expanded his experience as London’s deputy mayor for housing from 2016 to 2019, before stepping into his role as an MP.
