ORLANDO, Fla. – A massive turnout was seen on Saturday as eager shoppers flocked to The Mall at Millenia in Orlando. The reason for the excitement? The much-anticipated launch of Swatch’s Pop Royal watch collection.
The overwhelming number of visitors led to the early closure of the store, as management aimed to address concerns around maintaining crowd control.
Beyond Orlando, seven other Swatch outlets across the United States also opted to close their doors ahead of schedule, all due to similar issues with crowd management.
This enthusiastic reception wasn’t limited to the U.S.; Swatch stores in Europe reported extensive lines, demonstrating the global appeal of the new watch line.
The collaboration between Audemars Piguet and Swatch has been heralded as innovative, with a press release describing the Pop Royal collection as a blend of “joyful boldness and positive provocation with fine watchmaking.” Inspired by the vibrant Pop Art movement, the watches aim to bring a burst of color and energy to everyday fashion.
