A fierce blaze engulfing Simi Valley has prompted the evacuation of numerous residents, as a significant number of homes face imminent danger.
The Sandy Fire, propelled by strong winds, ignited shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday near the 600 block of Sandy Avenue.
Within just half an hour, the flames had rapidly consumed nearly 200 acres.
Over 200 firefighters from Ventura County, Los Angeles County, and CAL FIRE swiftly responded, deploying water-dropping efforts to combat the spread.
“Fire crews are actively battling a rapidly advancing brush fire that started in the vicinity of Sandy Avenue in Simi Valley. Currently, the fire spans approximately 184 acres and poses a threat to nearby structures. Evacuation Orders and Warnings have been issued for the affected areas,” stated an emergency alert.
The evacuation mandate extends across Simi Valley zones 32, 33, 34, and 35, with the potential for additional orders as the situation evolves.
This is a developing story.
