Billionaire fashion magnate's son arrested on suspicions over his death
Police in north-eastern Spain have arrested the son of Isak Andic, the billionaire founder of the Spanish fashion brand Mango, for allegedly having played a role in his death.
Andic, 71, was hiking with his son in the mountains near Barcelona when he fell about 150 metres down a cliff and died in December 2024.

Jonathan Andic, aged 45, stood as the sole witness to an incident that initially caught police attention, leading to an investigation that was quickly closed. However, authorities reopened the case in March 2025, and by October, they announced that the death was being treated as a potential homicide.

A spokesperson for the Catalan regional police, known as Mossos d’Esquadra, reported that Jonathan Andic had been brought to legal facilities in Martorell, a city in Spain’s eastern region where the inquiry is ongoing. The spokesperson requested anonymity in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Details of the case remain under a nondisclosure order, the spokesperson further noted.

Jonathan Andic, as the eldest of three siblings and a direct heir to the family legacy, serves as vice chairman on the board of Mango, a leading Spanish retail giant.

The Andic family relocated from Turkey to Spain during Isak Andic’s youth. Isak established the first Mango store in Barcelona in 1984, and under his leadership, the brand expanded to become one of Europe’s foremost fast-fashion companies.

With a presence of 2,900 stores across 120 global markets, Mango reported record-breaking revenues of nearly €3.8 billion ($6.2 billion) in 2025, marking an 11% rise from the previous year.
