These feeds can be conveniently pinned to the top of the YouTube homepage, offering a seamless way to dive back into content that resonates with them.
Currently, this feature is being introduced to English-speaking YouTube users in the United States who access the platform via the mobile app or desktop while logged in. To explore this new capability, users can click on the “Your custom feed” tab located at the top of the YouTube homepage. Once there, they simply enter a prompt into the AI text box. For instance, they might request to “unwind with guided meditations under 10 minutes” or seek out “in-depth tech podcasts about AI.” In response, the AI generates a curated feed aligned with the user’s specific request.
This development mirrors similar AI-driven customization features offered by other digital platforms. For example, Spotify provides prompted playlists, tailoring music experiences to individual preferences. Likewise, Instagram has empowered users with more influence over their Reels feed algorithm, although it achieves this through topic lists rather than descriptive prompts.
YouTube promises flexibility with this feature, allowing users to modify prompts at any time to “generate a brand new space.” To access the “Your custom feed” tab, users must ensure that their search and watch histories are activated in their account settings.
